Ukraine reveals what was aboard Iranian ship it attacked

Ukraine struck an Iranian vessel in the Caspian Sea that was transporting military cargo to Russia. It is entirely possible that this will not be the last such operation, Ukraine's Ambassador to Israel, Korniychuk Yevgen, said, according to N12.
According to the diplomat, the Iranian vessel was carrying components for drones and missiles that Tehran planned to transfer to Russia.
He also stressed that such ships are entirely legitimate military targets, as Ukraine is defending its security.
"We are fighting one enemy, different sides of the same 'axis of evil'," Korniychuk explained.
On July 26, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy officially confirmed that the Defense Forces had achieved very good results in long-range strikes in the Caspian Sea.
As the head of state said at the time, the targets included vessels used to transport military cargo in cooperation with Iran.
The Security Service of Ukraine also confirmed that Ukrainian forces had struck a vessel transporting military cargo between Iran and Russia. It operated in circumvention of international sanctions and transported military cargo between the two countries.
Against the backdrop of recent events, Iran continues to insist that it was a civilian merchant vessel.
"The vessel we attacked contained components for drones and missiles bound for Russia, not civilian goods as Iran claimed," Korniychuk stressed.
According to him, this is not the first time Ukraine has attacked such military targets.
"And, of course, it can be expected that we will strike them again. From our point of view, this is an entirely legitimate military target," the ambassador noted.
Earlier, Iran had lashed out at Ukraine with serious accusations. Tehran claimed that its civilian vessel had been attacked, allegedly resulting in the death of one person.
Zelenskyy also recently revealed details of cooperation between Russia and Iran ahead of strikes on US bases.
