Russia, Iran worked together ahead of attacks on US bases, Zelenskyy says

Russia provides Iran with satellite imagery of US military facilities and Gulf countries on a regular basis. Ukraine will share the relevant intelligence with its international partners, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Russia helps Iran identify targets
Ukrainian intelligence has been tracking increased Russian satellite surveillance since July. Moscow images the territories of Gulf states and US military facilities there.
The imagery is then passed on to Iranian forces. Ukrainian intelligence says there is a clear correlation between Russian satellite activity and Iranian strikes:
- Before attacks, to identify and accurately target objectives
- After attacks, to assess the damage and evaluate the effectiveness of the strikes.
Which sites are at risk
Over just a few days, Russian satellites conducted reconnaissance of a number of key military sites.
"On July 19 and 20 alone, four air bases came under the observation of Russian satellites: two in Bahrain, one in Jordan, and one in Kuwait," Zelenskyy said.
In response, the president instructed Ukraine's intelligence agencies to promptly share all available evidence with partner countries to help prevent further threats.
US under threat in Middle East
Notably, since the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East began, Iran has launched several strikes against CIA facilities in the Gulf. Following those attacks, analysts began examining the Kremlin's possible role in providing targeting information and strike coordination.
The situation surrounding Iranian attacks continues to escalate.
Amid ongoing provocations and growing threats to US military personnel, President Donald Trump is considering what could become the largest strike on Iran to date, a move that may rank among the most consequential decisions of his administration.
