Egypt, together with Pakistan, is working on creating a mechanism aimed at establishing lasting peace between the US and Iran, according to Reuters.

Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said that Turkey and Saudi Arabia have also joined the process.

The countries are coordinating broader regional efforts aimed at preventing further escalation and laying the groundwork for post-war security arrangements.

Abdelatty stressed that the initiative is not only about a political settlement, but also about stabilizing energy markets, supply chains, and food security.

According to him, special attention is being paid to protecting the Gulf states, which remain in a high-risk zone due to the conflict.

US–Iran talks

Negotiations between the US and Iran have reached a final stage in recent weeks. According to media reports, the sides have already "agreed in principle" on a new deal, although some key issues remain unresolved.

Against this backdrop, Washington has not ruled out that US President Donald Trump may make partial concessions due to domestic pressure and the situation on energy markets.

At the same time, Trump himself has spoken about finalizing the agreements and the possibility of reaching a deal in the coming days.

Despite this, he noted that the truce could end without an agreement, stressing that a key condition remains Iran’s complete abandonment of nuclear weapons.
