The Know Your Ukraine educational project has joined in developing Art lessons for the Ministry of Education and Science's pilot educational program, Education for Life. The course for grades 5-6 is already being implemented in 61 schools throughout Ukraine, as announced by patron and co-founder of the project Gnat Korobko in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.
"The Know Your Ukraine project contributed to the development of Art lessons for the pilot Ministry of Education program Education for Life, which was launched in 2025 to test new approaches to learning. This is an integrated course for 5th–6th grades, currently being implemented in 61 schools across Ukraine," said Gnat Korobko.
According to him, the course combines the Ukrainian cultural context with global art practices without a strict chronological division.
"Our task was not to create a separate block on traditional culture, but to show it as an organic part of contemporary life and the broader artistic context," explained the project co-founder.
He noted that the lesson development took place in partnership with the NGO Museum of Contemporary Art and in ongoing dialogue with educators.
Based on the materials from the Know Your Ukraine project, course methodologists Myroslava Vertyuk and Yaroslava Muzychenko developed two topics for 5th–6th-grade art lessons, as well as special winter lessons dedicated to the Ukrainian tradition of celebrating Christmas.
"The lessons explore traditional culture through various artistic dimensions — music and the caroling tradition, visual arts, theatrical elements, and festive customs," said Gnat Korobko.
Know Your Ukraine is an educational project about traditional Ukrainian culture that, in partnership with cultural institutions and with the support of philanthropist Gnat Korobko, creates educational courses, lessons, and practical materials for schools, teachers, and the wider audience. In total, over 18,000 participants have completed the Pokrova (name of the major Ukrainian religious and cultural holiday celebrated on October 1st, symbolizing the Virgin Mary's protection over believers - ed.) and Christmas educational courses.
Earlier, we reported that the organizers of the educational project gathered teachers from across Ukraine in Kyiv to introduce them to Ukrainian Christmas traditions.
