Drones swarm Russian Belgorod, setting warehouses and energy facilities ablaze

Belgorod came under a drone attack overnight on July 25. The attack sparked fires at logistics warehouses and energy infrastructure facilities across the city, according to OSINT channels and Russian Telegram channels.
"Belgorod is under a massive UAV attack. Logistics warehouses and energy infrastructure facilities are burning across the city," one OSINT channel said.
According to the reports, smoke was seen rising from the area of the electrical substation at the Luch thermal power plant in Belgorod.
Russian Telegram channels also reported an attack on the Yuzhnaya electrical substation, located within Belgorod. The strike sparked a fire, with heavy smoke seen rising from the site.

Comment from authorities
Acting Governor of Russia's Belgorod region Alexander Shuvalov confirmed that the city had come under a drone attack overnight but provided no further details. He urged residents to "avoid traveling and stay off the streets."
"There is damage and several fires on the streets, which are being extinguished by firefighting crews. Please stay away from windows and follow safety precautions. Avoid traveling and stay off the streets," Shuvalov wrote on social media several hours after the attack.
Attacks on Belgorod
As is known, Belgorod and the surrounding region periodically come under drone and missile attacks. For example, in early July, the city was hit by a missile strike that targeted a local thermal power plant, leaving part of Belgorod without electricity.
On the night of July 3-4, the Russian city of Belgorod was also hit by a missile attack. Following a series of strikes and explosions, parts of the city lost power.
The primary objective of the strikes, which are periodically carried out by Ukraine's Defense Forces, is to damage Russia's energy infrastructure, mirroring Russia's attacks on Ukraine's energy system.
It is worth noting that Belgorod has been targeted by attacks for several years. One particularly notable incident occurred during Russia's 2024 presidential election, when shelling prevented residents from casting their votes.
