In Volgograd, explosions were heard during the night, which residents reported and actively discussed in online communities. Regional governor Andrey Bocharov confirmed a fire in the area near an oil refinery, according to Russian Telegram channels.

After 11:00 p.m., a drone threat was reported in the Volgograd region, and later residents began posting about the explosions on Telegram. Videos of the strikes capture eyewitness reactions, with comments like, “Look, did you see that? Boom!” and similar remarks.

Later, regional governor Andreyi Bocharov wrote that the Russian Ministry of Defense is repelling a massive drone attack on the territory of the Volgograd region.

“As a result of falling debris, a fire broke out in the industrial zone of the Krasnoarmeiskyi District. Fire services promptly began extinguishing it. Specialists from emergency services and municipal authorities are working to assess the damage and eliminate the consequences,” Bocharov reported on his Telegram.

The Lukoil-Volgograd Oil Refinery is located in the Krasnoarmeiskyi District, which several Telegram channels reported was targeted in the night attack on November 6.

Volgograd refinery targeted again

Earlier this year, in August, the Ukrainian General Staff confirmed attacks on the Volgograd oil refinery, which caused large fires.

On the night of August 14, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the largest oil refinery in Volgograd, Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka LLC.

The refinery processes over 15 million tons of oil annually, accounting for nearly 6% of all oil refining in Russia.

RBC-Ukraine also reported that recently, during a briefing, Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Maliuk stated that strikes by the Ukrainian Defense Forces on Russian refineries had reduced Russia’s oil production by 90%.
