Massive fires erupt in Volgograd oil refinery after Ukrainian drone strikes – Ukraine's General Staff

On the night of August 14, Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck the largest oil refinery in Russia’s Volgograd. Massive fires broke out at the facility, and details of the aftermath are being clarified, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
On the night of August 14, units of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, together with Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence, struck the Volgograd Oil Refinery LLC Lukoil-Volgogradnaftoperobka.
The hits of the strike drones caused large-scale fires.
Why it matters
The Volgograd Oil Refinery is the largest fuel producer in the Southern Federal District of Russia. Over 15 million tons of oil are processed here annually, which is almost 6% of all refining in the country. The plant produces diesel, gasoline, and aviation fuel - critical for supplying Russian troops.
On August 13, Ukrainian kamikaze drones attacked a pumping station of the Transneft Druzhba oil pipeline in Unecha, Bryansk region. That same day, Russians reported a drone attack on an oil refinery in Slavyansk-on-Kuban (Krasnodar Krai).
Also, on August 10, as part of a special operation by Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence, the LUKOIL-Ukhtaneftepererabotka oil refinery was hit.
