Drones and Patriots: Ukrainian FM shares what was discussed with Kellogg during his visit to Kyiv

Ukraine has informed the United States of the number of Patriot air defense systems it needs to protect against Russian attacks. The next step in implementing the agreements now lies with Presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated this during a briefing alongside French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot.
He noted that Kellogg’s visit was a continuation of that high-level dialogue and followed what Sybiha described as "productive talks that introduced new elements."
"Of course, we discussed weapons – this is a constant topic with all our allies. Ukraine is at war, defending its independence, and we urgently need arms," he said.
According to Sybiha, Ukraine proposed a specific approach for the purchase of US-made weapons, especially Patriot air defense systems, and General Kellogg was fully briefed on it.
Kellogg was informed of the number of systems needed to effectively protect Ukrainian cities and regions. Additionally, the two sides discussed cooperation on joint production and delivery of Ukrainian-made drones and long-range weaponry for use by the US military.
"General Kellogg was also briefed on other current front-line priorities so he could report back to President Trump. We now expect further direct communication between President Zelenskyy and President Trump to move these agreements forward, and I can clearly say, they are promising," Sybiha added.
Kellogg's visit to Kyiv
Keith Kellogg visited Ukraine on July 14 for an official four-day trip, during which he met with Ukrainian officials, including President Zelenskyy.
During his stay, Russian forces did not launch any major airstrikes on the capital, something Zelenskyy interpreted as a sign that Putin is avoiding full-scale escalation.
Sybiha commented that the absence of attacks during Kellogg’s visit shows that "Putin fears US President Donald Trump."
