Drones and missiles flew in three directions: Air defenses repel overnight Russian attack

Overnight on August 16, Russia attacked Ukraine with 106 strike drones and missiles of various types. The Russian forces attacked from three directions, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
This night, the enemy attacked Kyiv, Kremenchuk and Kryvyi Rih with Oniks anti-ship missiles, Iskander-M/S-400/KN-23 ballistic missiles from the Kursk, Bryansk and Voronezh regions, and Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missiles from the airspace over the temporarily occupied part of Kherson region and Belgorod region.
The Russians also launched 106 Shahed-type strike drones, including jet-powered ones, Gerbera drones and Parody-type decoy drones from the following directions: Kursk, Millerovo, Oryol, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk region, and the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea.
The main areas targeted were the Kyiv, Poltava and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
According to preliminary data, as of 8:00 a.m., air defenses had shot down or suppressed three Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missiles and 85 enemy drones in the north, south, east and center of the country.
Hits by enemy air attack weapons were recorded at 13 locations, while debris from downed targets fell at three locations.
Attack on Ukraine on August 16
As previously reported, Russian forces attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles overnight on August 16. Three people were injured, while fires and destruction were reported in the Obolonskyi and Holosiivskyi districts.
Russia also struck industrial facilities in Kryvyi Rih that night. One person was killed in the attack, and there were also injuries.
