Ukrainian drones hit Shahed launch site in Krasnodar region

SBU drones struck the Shahed launch airfield in Russia’s Krasnodar region overnight on August 2. The target was the military airfield in Primorsko-Akhtarsk, used by Russian forces to launch Shahed drones against Ukraine, according to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

Drones also attacked the Elektroppribor plant in Penza, which serves the Russian military-industrial complex.

The plant produces equipment for digital networks in military control systems, instruments for aviation, armored vehicles, ships, and spacecraft. According to the SBU, smoke was observed in the area following the explosions.

Zelenskyy appoints new Air Force commander to step up air defense

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed Lieutenant General Anatolii Kryvonozhko as Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He had been serving as acting Commander for nearly a year after Mykola Oleshchuk was dismissed.

"What matters most is that Ukrainian combat aviation and air defense continue to develop in a comprehensive and effectively coordinated manner – through the joint efforts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the General Staff, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, our partner teams, and dedicated, professional experts who want Ukraine to be strong and victorious," Zelenskyy said.

Missile strike hits Mykolaiv: Shocking images show damage in residential area

On the night of August 3, Russian troops launched a missile attack on one of Mykolaiv's residential areas. The State Emergency Service and the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Kim, showed the consequences.

Civilians were injured in the attack, and serious damage to residential and urban infrastructure was recorded.

According to rescuers, seven people were injured. Three men, aged 32, 57, and 74, were hospitalized.

Ukraine sanctions 94 shadow fleet captains smuggling Putin's oil across the globe

Ukraine has prepared three sanctions packages, with the first one already enacted. It targets the captains of Russia's shadow fleet, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"Today, I held a meeting on our sanctions policy. Three sanctions packages have been prepared. The first package has already been applied — sanctions against the captains of Russia's shadow fleet," Zelenskyy said.

While speaking earlier to journalists in the capital, Phnom Penh, Chanthol thanked Trump for establishing peace and said he deserves to be nominated for the award - the highest international recognition given to a person or organization believed to have done the most to "advance fellowship between nations."

First eruption in 600 years: Kamchatka's Krasheninnikov volcano awakens

An eruption of the Krasheninnikov volcano occurred on the Kamchatka Peninsula — the first in 600 years, according to Sky News.

The eruption is linked to a powerful 8.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Russia’s Far East earlier this week.

According to the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the last recorded eruption of Krasheninnikov took place around 1463.
