Drone downed over Latvia could be 'under-false-colors' operation, Lithuanian PM says

Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius said it cannot be ruled out that the incident involving a drone shot down over Latvia could be an "under-false-colors" operation, according to Delfi.
Despite the statement, Premier Sinkevičius clarified that the situation will only become clear once the drone itself or its debris is found.
"The downed drone has not yet been found. I think it will be found soon, and then it will become clear what kind of aircraft it was, who it belonged to, and specialists may even be able to trace its target through its microchips," the Lithuanian prime minister said.
Meanwhile, Lithuanian Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas said last week that the country's intelligence services have information indicating that Russia is considering possible provocations in the Baltic region. However, no final decision has been made, and no specific date has been set.
He said the Kremlin was considering the possibility of striking critical infrastructure facilities in the Baltic states, and Russia could potentially use Ukrainian drones for such operations.
Background
As previously reported, a drone entered Latvian airspace overnight on August 14. It was soon shot down by NATO fighter jets. Some time later, the Latvian military officially declared the threat over.
Notably, July 8 marked the first time NATO fighter jets shot down an unidentified drone that had violated Latvian airspace.
