Footage of a fire in the temporarily occupied Donetsk is being shared online following an attack by unidentified drones, according to Russian media reports.

Local Telegram channels report a large fire in the area of the Sigma Land hypermarket (formerly Auchan) near the Sloviansk-Donetsk-Mariupol bypass road.

Eyewitnesses on social media claim that the fire broke out as a result of a drone strike. This information has not been officially confirmed.

Residents also report that thick black smoke can be seen from several kilometers away.

Explosions in Donetsk

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported a series of explosions in the temporarily occupied Donetsk that occurred on September 17. At the time, reports on social media mentioned strikes in one of the city’s districts.

Before that, on August 20, a series of explosions also took place in Donetsk. Preliminary information indicated hits in the Kirovskyi district, with explosions heard across various parts of the city. There were also reports of a fire.

Earlier, the city also experienced loud explosions and power outages.

Donetsk has been under occupation since the spring of 2014, when pro-Russian militants, supported by Russia, seized the city and declared the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).
