Drone attack on Ukraine on January 5: At least 10 Shaheds downed
Russian forces have launched several groups of Shahed drones on Ukrainian territory in the morning of January 5. Ukrainian military has reportedly destroyed at least 10 enemy drones, according to Natalia Humenyuk, the head of the unified press center of the Southern Defense Forces.
"Combat operations were taking place in the south. We observed two waves of attacks. The first lasted three hours, and a new wave began two hours later. Combat operations and interceptions are ongoing," said Humeniuk.
According to her, the efforts of the Defense Forces against the Shahed drones were successful. Air defense forces managed to destroy at least 10 attack drones, with four each in the Kherson and Dnipropetrovsk regions, and one each in the Kirovohrad and Mykolaiv regions.
"Unfortunately, there were hits. This time the enemy targeted agricultural facilities and civilian establishments, including grain storage warehouses and cultural centers. Regrettably, there are preliminary reports of injuries," she added.
Combined Russian strikes on Ukraine
On January 4, Russian forces launched several missiles onto Ukrainian territory, targeting Kropyvnytskyi. The enemy shelled several energy facilities in the city, resulting in casualties.
Yesterday evening, Russians also launched several groups of Shahed drones onto Ukrainian territory. Air raid sirens were sounded in a number of southern and central regions.
Additionally, on January 2, Russians carried out a massive missile attack on Ukraine. Anti-aircraft defense forces successfully intercepted 72 missiles, with the majority (about 60) being shot down near Kyiv. Among them were 10 hypersonic Kinzhal missiles.
