The airport in the Russian city of Tambov has imposed temporary restrictions on civilian air traffic due to the threat of a drone attack, according to the spokesperson for the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya), Artem Korenyak.
"To ensure the safety of civilian aircraft, temporary restrictions on takeoffs and landings have been imposed at Tambov Airport (Donskoye; ICAO code: UUOT)," said Korenyak.
Notably, around midnight Kyiv time, an air raid alert was declared in Tambov Oblast due to a threat of drone attacks reportedly approaching from Voronezh Oblast.
There were specific warnings about possible strikes in the cities of Tambov and Kotovsk.
Drone attacks on Russia
In recent weeks, nighttime drone strikes have become more frequent across various regions of Russia.
These UAVs typically target military facilities and enterprises involved in arms production.
On the night of June 26, drones hit Moscow and the surrounding region. Explosions were heard in the capital and nearby towns, prompting authorities at Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport to activate the "Kilim" (Carpet) protocol.
On the night of June 25, explosions were reported in Taganrog, where drones struck the Atlant-Aero defense plant.
Earlier, on June 15, UAV attacks led to the temporary closure of airports in Izhevsk, Kazan, Nizhnekamsk, Kaluga, and Tambov.
