Drone attack and explosions reported in several areas of Voronezh region
In Russia's Voronezh region, air defense systems were active overnight on November 7 in response to an aerial drone attack. Explosions were reported in several areas of the region, report Voronezh Governor Alexander Gusev and local community channels.
A Russian official had warned of a potential drone attack in the region the previous evening, and only around 4:15 a.m. did he announce that the danger had passed.
Initially, the governor of Voronezh reported that air defense and electronic warfare systems had detected and destroyed a single drone over the region. Later, he updated that additional drones had been downed.
"More than ten drones have been shot down across three districts of the region. According to preliminary data, there are no casualties or damage," he stated.
The governor also noted on social media that emergency services were on the scene.
Meanwhile, local channels in Voronezh reported loud explosions in the regional center overnight.
Additionally, reports emerged last evening of a fire in Voronezh, allegedly following an explosion.
Drone attacks in the Voronezh region
This Russian region frequently reports air attacks involving drones, as well as explosions and fires at various sites due to drone strikes.
For example, on the night of October 27, drone attacks targeted distilleries in the Voronezh region, specifically in the city of Novokhopyorsk and in the Anninsky district.
Earlier, on the night of October 6, a drone strike sparked a fire at the Etanol Spyrt alcohol distillery located in Novokhopyorsk, Voronezh region.
In October, Ukrainian drones also attacked the Borisoglebsk airfield in the Voronezh region, which houses Russian stockpiles of guided bombs and parking areas for Su-35 and Su-34 aircraft. Satellite images later showed four distinct fire sites on the airfield.
Additionally, on the night of October 4, the Annanefteprodukt oil depot in the Voronezh region was attacked. Sources told RBC-Ukraine that the site, which held dozens of fuel tanks, was struck by drones operated by Ukrainian security services.
