Downing of Prigozhin's plane sends signal to Russian elites ahead of elections: Zelenskyy's Office states
The plane crash involving Wagner PMC leader Yevgeny Prigozhin is a signal to political opponents of Putin and the Russian elite, according to the statement of the advisor to the head of the President's Office, Mykhailo Podolyak.
"It's obvious that Putin forgives no one for his own bestial fear - exactly the kind that zeroed him in June 2023 - and waited for the right moment. It's also evident that Prigozhin signed himself a special death sentence the moment he believed in strange 'guarantees from Lukashenko' and in no less absurd 'honest word' from Putin," Podolyak wrote.
He notes that the symbolic removal of Prigozhin and the Wagner PMC command two months after the coup attempt is a signal from Putin to the Russian elites ahead of the 2024 elections.
