Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said that his country is suspending diesel fuel supplies to Ukraine until the operation of the Druzhba pipeline is restored, Index reports.

According to the publication, Szijjártó reported at a government meeting on Wednesday on the situation with oil supplies to Hungary after deliveries through the Druzhba pipeline stopped.
He stated that the oil supply has still not been restored "by decision of Ukraine" and called it "a purely political decision."
"We are stopping diesel fuel supplies to Ukraine, and they will not continue until oil starts flowing again through the Druzhba pipeline. This is where we stop," Szijjártó said.
According to the Hungarian minister, the country currently has strategic oil reserves sufficient for 96 days, so in the short term, there is no reason for concern.
Szijjártó also stated that Hungarian company MOL has ordered the first batches of Russian oil that will be transported to Hungary by sea via Croatia.
Hungary's dependence on Russian oil and strikes on Druzhba
Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, Hungary has not rushed to abandon Russian energy resources and continues active trade with the aggressor country without seeking alternative sources of gas and oil supply.
At the end of September last year, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that Budapest does not plan to halt Russian oil imports, explaining that other supply options, in his opinion, are less reliable.
Last year, Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia Juraj Blanár and Szijjártó appealed to the European Commission with a complaint about Ukrainian strikes on the Druzhba oil pumping station, through which Russian oil is supplied to Hungary and Slovakia.
The first strike on the infrastructure of the Druzhba pipeline was recorded on August 13, 2025. Already on August 18, the Ukrainian military attacked the Nikolskoye oil pumping station in the Tambov region of Russia, which caused fire at the facility and a complete halt of oil pumping.
In addition, drones struck the Unecha station, due to which oil supplies to Hungary and Slovakia were also suspended.
After that, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó stated the possibility of stopping electricity supplies to Ukraine.
