DF destroys Hezbollah tunnel leading from Lebanon into Israel
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have destroyed a tunnel dug by Hezbollah militants. It crossed the Lebanese border with Israel, stated IDF report, according to The Times of Israel.
According to Israeli military sources, the tunnel did not reach Israeli territory. It was constructed near the Lebanese village of Marwahin, located directly across from the Israeli community of Zar'it.
The IDF claims that the tunnel construction began about two years ago and was quickly detected by Israeli forces, who monitored its progress. The tunnel was discovered during IDF raids in southern Lebanon several months ago.
IDF soldiers searched the tunnel and found weapons inside, including explosives and anti-tank missiles. The tunnel was subsequently destroyed. No other tunnels leading from Lebanon to Israel were found.
