Conflict in Middle East
On October 7, 2023, Hamas militants attacked Israel, killing more than a thousand people and taking hundreds hostage. In response, Israel launched a military operation against terrorists in the Gaza Strip.
On October 1, 2024, the IDF launched a military operation against Hezbollah in Lebanon. The purpose of the operation was to destroy the group's infrastructure and leaders, as well as to push the militants away from the border. This is intended to ensure the safe return of residents of northern Israel to their homes.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the US Department of Homeland Security have warned that the approaching anniversary of the attack, as well as the deteriorating situation in the Middle East, could provoke new acts of violence by extremist groups.
