Devastation unveiled: Latest images reveal ruins of Avdiivka, ravaged by Russian forces
Avdiivka is located 13 kilometers from Donetsk and has become yet another victim of the Russian army. The town is practically completely destroyed by occupiers who have been trying to seize it since 2014 - first by the so-called Donetsk People's Republic forces, and since 2022 by regular Russian armed forces.
RBC-Ukraine, according to posts by military photographers Vladyslava and Kostiantyn Liberovs on Instagram, describes how Avdiivka looks now.
What Avdiivka looks like now
"Columns of broken enemy equipment, complete ruins, and the constant sounds of incoming fire and active artillery - that's how the city of Avdiivka looks today," the photographers write.
They note that almost every day, Ukrainian defenders repel enemy assaults. The Russian tactic of taking the city with large columns has failed, so now the enemy is attempting to attack in small groups.
"We saw a similar picture in Bakhmut: the city is being bombarded relentlessly. Now there's only one road leading to the city, approximately 1.5 km from the enemy, so despite the snow and icy conditions, we rush through at high speed. The weather doesn't affect FPV drones; they fly in daylight, at night, and even in snowy weather," the Liberovs add.

In the frames, you can see that only ruins remain of the city. High-rise buildings are destroyed, and the infrastructure is shattered. The photographers note that with each passing day, the rubble increases.
"We urgently went down to the basement twice: they signaled a missile danger and a hostile aircraft alert. In a matter of minutes, we hear powerful explosions from afar; today, they're not hitting our sector, but in the area where we hide, no building remains intact," the Liberovs write.
They also add that the fields around the city are so heavily shelled that they resemble a sieve.
"The intensity of artillery shelling on infantry is hard and scary to imagine. The enemy's losses in this direction are colossal, but the problem is that they don't count people. No matter how many fall, it won't be too many for them; they will continue to grind their personnel against the defense of the city, hoping that the last one will eventually give in at some point," the photographers share.
