Denmark organizes informal meetings of EU ministers: Discussions will also cover support for Ukraine

Denmark, together with the European External Action Service, is organizing informal meetings of EU foreign and defense ministers. They will discuss, among other things, military support for Ukraine, according to the press service of the Danish Presidency of the Council of the EU.
According to reports, the meeting of defense ministers is scheduled for August 28 and 29.
On the first day, ministers are invited to a preliminary defense event, followed by a formal dinner at Frederiksberg Palace.
The informal meeting on August 29 will provide an opportunity for strategic discussions on EU security and defense cooperation, including EU military support for Ukraine and overall defense capabilities.
The meeting of foreign ministers is scheduled for August 29 and 30. It is noted that this format allows for more open discussions and reflections on strategic issues related to the EU’s role and position on the global stage.
Denmark’s support for Ukraine
On July 1, Denmark took over the EU Council Presidency from Poland. The motto of Denmark’s presidency is "A Strong Europe in a Changing World."
The Danish government has stated that its main goal is to create a more resilient and independent European Union capable of responding to geopolitical challenges on its own. Among its priorities are supporting Ukraine and imposing sanctions against Russia.
Denmark remains one of Ukraine’s most active partner countries. Copenhagen has provided military assistance to the Ukrainian army, including heavy equipment.
Denmark has also joined the aviation coalition, supplying Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets.
In addition, Ukraine and Denmark are launching joint weapons production. Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Denmark would be the first country with which Ukraine would start joint defense manufacturing.
