Demining Capability Coalition announces large-scale aid package for Ukraine for 2026

The Demining Capability Coalition plans to allocate at least €165 million in 2026 to provide Ukraine with equipment and gear, according to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine's press service.
It is reported that the funds will be used to procure mechanized demining vehicles, mine-clearance boats, remote demining systems, pickup trucks, metal detectors, night vision devices, explosive ordnance disposal suits for sappers, and anti-drone equipment.
The implementation of the planned measures will significantly strengthen Ukraine’s capabilities in both combat and humanitarian demining, accelerate the clearance of Ukrainian lands from explosive hazards, and facilitate their return to economic use.
In addition, international partners are pooling additional resources to conduct specialized training, demining courses, and the preparation of Ukrainian specialists according to NATO and IMAS standards.
According to the Main Directorate for Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety, the Demining Capability Coalition includes 23 countries. Canada, the Netherlands, and the United States of America participate as observers and partners of the Coalition.
Demining in Ukraine
Earlier reports indicated that Ukraine would need $29.8 billion to clear territories affected by the war. However, this requirement has decreased thanks to progress in removing mines and unexploded ordnance from Ukrainian lands.
The Ministry of Defense previously also reported that Ukraine would receive €700 million from Western partners for demining equipment. The funds are planned to be provided by 2034.
In addition, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has initiated the creation of a training and testing ground for new demining methods. At this new facility, the Ministry aims to test innovative demining technologies, including AI-based solutions, and exchange expertise with international partners.
