Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on Thursday, December 4, that a decision on the new head of the Office of the President will be made very soon.

He said that additional meetings with candidates for the position of the new head of the Office of the President took place today.

"We discussed the working formats of the Office and interaction with other state institutions, which is necessary for Ukraine’s interests. A decision regarding the new head of the Office will be made very soon," Zelenskyy’s statement reads.

Yermak’s resignation

On November 28, NABU (National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine) detectives and SAP (Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office) prosecutors conducted searches at the residence of the former head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak. On the same day, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Yermak had submitted his resignation. Shortly after, Zelenskyy signed a decree officially dismissing him.

On the night of November 29, The New York Post reported that Yermak had decided to go to the front.

That same day, the former head of the Office of the President spoke to the Financial Times, stating that he held no grudge against Zelenskyy and adding that Zelenskyy had been his friend before this role and would remain so afterward.

The day after his dismissal, Andriy Yermak again visited Bankova Street to speak with the President of Ukraine.

Sources of RBC-Ukraine reported that Zelenskyy has not yet decided on the next head of the Office. Meanwhile, six candidates are being considered for the vacant position.
