The number of victims of the roof collapse at the nightclub in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, has sharply increased. Currently, 184 dead victims have been confirmed, Associated Press reports.

According to Juan Manuel Méndez, Director of the Center of Emergency Operations, the search for victims and potential survivors continues.

As of now, the following is known:

  • 184 dead victims
  • more than 200 injured.

At present, the identities of only a few dozen victims have been identified, including a doctor, a government architect, retired police officers, a UN employee, the son and daughter-in-law of the local Minister of Public Works, and the brother of the Deputy Minister for Youth Affairs of the Dominican Republic.

It was also announced that a commission has been created to provide psychological support to the families of the deceased.

Tragedy at nightclub in Dominican Republic

On the night of April 9, the roof of the Jet Set nightclub in the capital of the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo, collapsed during a merengue concert. The cause of the collapse has not yet been determined, and the investigation is ongoing.
