Death toll rises in Chernivtsi after massive Russian strike on July 12

The death toll in Chernivtsi has risen following the Russian missile strike on July 12. One of the injured victims has died in the hospital, Head of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration, Ruslan Zaparniuk, reports.
"Sad news… Unfortunately, we have another dead victim due to the Russian strike on Chernivtsi on July 12. Vasyl Klypych, 74, a resident of Sniatyn in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, died in the hospital today," Zaparniuk wrote.
According to the Head of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration, doctors fought for the man's life for nearly five days. However, Klypych had sustained multiple shrapnel wounds, and it was not possible to save him.
"Damn Russia has already killed three people in Chernivtsi… My deepest condolences to the family and loved ones," Zaparniuk added.
During the night of July 12, Russian forces launched a combined missile and drone attack on Chernivtsi. Two people were killed and 26 were injured due to the strike. The city also suffered infrastructure damage and fires.
The overnight attack was one of the largest in recent times. The Russian army used over 600 aerial targets - Kh-101 cruise missiles and Shahed kamikaze drones.
