Czechia to cease reliance on Russian oil within a few months
In a matter of months, Czechia will free itself from dependence on oil from the Russian Federation, just as it has liberated itself from dependence on Russian gas. This statement was made by the Prime Minister of Czechia, Petr Fiala, reports iROZHLAS.
"We are building real energy sovereignty. In a matter of months, we will free ourselves from dependence on Russian oil," says Fiala.
According to him, the country has already freed itself from dependence on Russian gas.
"A similar development is expected regarding Russian nuclear fuel," he said.
He also pointed out that the Czech government has taken steps over the past year to end dependence on Russia and will continue to do so.
Czechia's attitude toward Russia after it invades Ukraine
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Czechia, Jan Lipavský, recently summoned Russian Ambassador Alexander Zmeyevsky for a reprimand. This was in response to a missile strike by occupiers on the village of Hroza in the Kharkiv region.
Additionally, during a European Parliament in Strasbourg session, Czech President Petr Pavel urged EU states to take a decisive stance against Russia due to its widescale war against Ukraine. He cautioned against actions by the aggressor country.
Chief Commander of the Czech military, Karel Ržehák, stated that Western countries must be prepared for the war in Ukraine to be prolonged, and Russia would become more hostile even in the face of potential defeat.
