The US Department of Justice has uncovered more than one million additional documents potentially linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, according to Reuters.

The US Department of Justice said the FBI and federal prosecutors in Manhattan have uncovered more than one million additional documents potentially linked to Jeffrey Epstein, without specifying when or how the materials were found.

The discovery of such a large volume of records is delaying their full release by several weeks. According to officials, the documents are currently being reviewed and redacted to protect victims.

"We have lawyers working around the clock to review and make the legally required redactions to protect victims, and we will release the documents as soon as possible," the department said. "Due to the mass volume of material, this process may take a few more weeks."

Documents released so far contain extensive redactions. According to media reports, this has angered some Republicans and has done little to defuse a scandal that "threatens the party ahead of the 2026 midterm elections."

Epstein case

The administration of US President Donald Trump has begun releasing files related to the case of Jeffrey Epstein, the late financier and convicted sex offender who socialized with Trump in the 1990s.

The publication became possible after a law was passed last month by the United States Congress. Republicans and Democrats approved the measure despite objections from Trump, demanding that all documents be released by December 19, while allowing partial redactions to protect victims.

The newly released materials mention Trump’s name, including references to his acquaintance with a 14-year-old girl at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

However, US observers have pointed out that Trump appears to have disappeared from the newly discovered batch of Epstein files. The reference is to an archived image showing a photograph of the current US president that is reportedly no longer present in the latest document set.
