President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on the United States and partners to maximize pressure on Russia amid Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector.

The President recalled that on January 15, Russian forces once again attacked critical infrastructure in several Ukrainian cities. Kharkiv, Kyiv, border regions, as well as the Dnipropetrovsk and Odesa regions, were hit.

EU to cut price cap on Russian oil starting February 1

The European Union will lower the price cap on Russian oil to $44.1 per barrel on February 1.

In early December 2022, the G7 countries, as well as Australia and the EU, imposed price caps on Russian oil, setting a maximum level of $60 per barrel.

Putin says Russia will continue to pursue its goals in Ukraine

Russian leader Vladimir Putin said that Russia will continue to consistently pursue its goals in Ukraine.

"Moscow hopes that Kyiv will realize the need for sustainable peace, and until that happens, Russia will continue to pursue its stated objectives," Putin said in a statement.
