Committee does not support resignation of Minister of Culture Tkachenko
According to the announcement on Facebook, the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy voted against the resignation of Minister of Culture and Information Policy, Oleksandr Tkachenko.
The question of Tkachenko's resignation will be further deliberated through a voting process in the session hall of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Further details have not been disclosed at this time.
Background
On July 21, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine received a statement requesting the dismissal of Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, Oleksandr Tkachenko.
It is worth mentioning that Tkachenko submitted his resignation due to controversy surrounding the allocation of funds by the Ministry of Culture from the state budget.
In his address on the evening of July 20, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal to consider replacing the Minister of Culture and Information Policy, Oleksandr Tkachenko.
This decision followed a scandal involving the allocation of millions of hryvnias by the Ministry of Culture for the creation of Russian-language content by companies that had previously operated in the Russian market.
Specifically, on June 7, the State Enterprise Inomovlenia conducted an "artistic competition" for the production of films and TV series. The winning companies were those whose founders had worked in the Russian market and on Russian projects.
However, the most significant controversy arose when Yuriy Horbunov's companies announced the allocation of 33 million hryvnias for the creation of the comedy series "SMT Ingulets."
Furthermore, earlier, public opinion demanded Tkachenko's resignation through a petition with gathered signatures.
