The Coalition of the Willing will gather today, August 19, to review the results of yesterday’s talks at the White House. It will be led by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, according to Sky News and The Guardian.

According to media sources, the virtual meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, during which world leaders will review the outcomes of the White House talks, is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Kyiv time.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer will chair the meeting and inform colleagues about the results of the Washington negotiations. He will also present proposals for next steps.

The initiative, led by the United Kingdom and France, foresees the possible deployment of military contingents from several European and NATO countries to Ukraine as a peacekeeping mission. Its goal is to prevent Russia from rearming and to avert future attacks.

White House talks

Earlier, talks were held at the White House with the participation of Donald Trump, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and several European leaders who came to Washington to support the Ukrainian president.

During the meeting, security guarantees for Ukraine were discussed. Allies confirmed their readiness to provide them to Kyiv.

Trump stated that the US is prepared to offer such guarantees to Ukraine and does not rule out sending American troops to monitor the implementation of a possible peace agreement with Russia. NATO’s Secretary General described these steps as "a real breakthrough."

After the talks, Volodymyr Zelenskyy separately addressed the issue of the potential deployment of foreign contingents in Ukraine. According to him, this matter falls under the responsibility of the Coalition of the Willing, which includes 30 countries.

The president emphasized that some member countries of the coalition do not have constitutional authority to send their troops to Ukraine. However, they can participate in financing Ukrainian defense production.
