China responds to Trump-Putin talks on Ukraine

China supports dialogue as a path to achieving peace in Ukraine. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated that Beijing welcomes efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire, China's national English language newspaper Global Times reports.
China commented on the phone conversation between Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump, which took place on March 18. During the discussion, the leaders talked about normalizing Russian-American relations and the situation in Ukraine.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated that China has taken note of the relevant reports.
According to Ning, China has supported resolving the crisis through dialogue and negotiations from the very beginning. Mao Ning emphasized that Beijing welcomes any efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire, as it is a necessary step toward peace.
China’s position on peace in Ukraine
Earlier, China has expressed its readiness to participate in Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction. Li Ming, Spokesperson for China International Development Cooperation Agency, emphasized that assistance will be provided according to the wishes of the parties involved.
Furthermore, China aims to create conditions for resolving the "Ukrainian crisis" by seeking mutually acceptable agreements for both sides of the conflict. The country will support all efforts aimed at a peaceful resolution.
Previously, China also stated that the terms of peace in Ukraine cannot be determined only by Russia and the US.
