China denies arming Russia, accuses NATO of misinformation

China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has denied allegations of supplying weapons to parties involved in the war in Ukraine and accused NATO of spreading disinformation, Reuters reports.
Ahead of a meeting with world leaders at the NATO summit in The Hague, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that China is engaged in a "massive build-up of the military" and is supporting Russia's war efforts in Ukraine.
"Given our long-term threat of Russia, but also the massive build-up of the military in China, and the fact that North Korea, China, Iran, are supporting the war effort in Ukraine - it's really important that we spend more so that will be number one on the agenda today," Rutte said.
Today, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun responded to statements made by NATO Secretary General.
Jiakun denied that China has supplied weapons to any parties involved in the war in Ukraine and accused "relevant NATO personnel" of slandering China's "normal military build-up".
NATO summit in The Hague
On June 24–25, the annual NATO summit took place in The Hague, Netherlands. The main topic was increasing defense spending, with discussions focused on setting a target of 5% of GDP by 2035.
However, the allies also raised the issue of continued support for Ukraine in its war against Russia.
Notably, on the sidelines of the summit, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with US President Donald Trump. RBC-Ukraine has gathered key details from their meeting.
