China calls US tariff rollback on electronics 'step toward correcting wrongful actions,' but says more is needed

The Chinese government has called the US decision to exempt part of its electronics from tariffs a small step toward correcting mistakes. At the same time, Beijing urged Washington to go further and fully lift the tariffs, Bloomberg reports.
"This is a small step by the US toward correcting its wrongful action of unilateral 'reciprocal tariffs'," the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said in a statement.
The Chinese Ministry also called on the US to lift all tariffs, returning "to the right path of resolving disagreements."
"(We call on them - ed.) to take a big stride in completely abolishing the wrongful action, and return to the correct path of resolving differences through equal dialog based on mutual respect," the Ministry of Commerce added.
Lifting tariffs on electronics
On Friday, the administration of US President Donald Trump excluded smartphones, computers, and other electronics from import tariffs.
The directives came after Trump, in April, imposed a 145% tariff on products from China. This, in turn, could have impacted tech companies like Apple, which manufactures most of its products in China.
Meanwhile, Trump suspended tariffs for 90 days against the majority of US trade partners, which were set to take effect on April 9. According to the latest data, 130 countries have already approached Washington with requests to hold tariff negotiations.
Furthermore, the US Department of Commerce also reported that a "nascent" dialogue on trade issues has begun between Washington and Beijing. This dialogue is being conducted through intermediaries.
