China assures it will not provide weapons to Russia - Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine
China has assured that it will not provide weapons to Russia for waging war against Ukraine, states spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Heorhii Tykhyi.
According to him, the topic of supplying weapons to Russia was discussed during the visit of Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, to China.
"Ukraine's position is that any military support to the aggressor state in terms of weapons is unacceptable. In response, we received a reply, which China has previously voiced, that China has not provided and will not provide weapons to Russia," Tykhyi noted.
As the spokesperson of the Ukrainian MFA explained, China is also strengthening export control, particularly over civilian drones, to prevent their transfer to Russia.
"The topic was discussed in detail. I cannot disclose all the details," he added.
China is accused of military assistance to Russia
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken accused China on July 10 of being the main weapons supplier to Russia's defense industry.
On that day, NATO leaders adopted a joint declaration naming China a "decisive enabler" of Russia's war against Ukraine.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that China must stop supporting Russia in the war against Ukraine, otherwise, Beijing will face sanctions.
At the same time, China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on NATO to stop accusing the country of involvement in the war against Ukraine.
Additionally, last week, Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, was on a three-day visit to China. He visited the country at the invitation of China's Foreign Minister, Wang Yi.
During the meeting, the colleagues discussed Russia's war against Ukraine and bilateral relations between the countries.
