ChatGPT remembers everything now: How it changes communication

OpenAI has announced the launch of a phased implementation of a new memory feature in ChatGPT that allows chatbots to adapt their responses based on previous conversations with users, reports Mashable.
Details of the update
According to the company, this feature, which appears in ChatGPT settings as "Reference saved memories," is designed to make dialogs with the bot more personalized and relevant. The update adds the context of previous conversations to all ChatGPT features — text, voice, and image generation.
The new feature will initially be available to ChatGPT Pro and Plus subscribers, except for users in the UK, EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland. In these countries, additional external review is required to comply with local regulations.
For free ChatGPT users, the company is not yet ready to announce the launch date. “We are focused on the rollout to paid tiers for now,” OpenAI said.
The purpose of the new feature is to make interaction with ChatGPT more natural and personalized so that users don’t have to repeat previously shared information. In February, Google introduced a similar memory feature in Gemini.
Of course, not everyone will be thrilled about the prospect of OpenAI storing more personal information. Fortunately, the feature can be turned off. In ChatGPT settings, users can disable memory or manage individual saved entries.
In addition, you can ask ChatGPT what exactly it remembers or use the “temporary chat” mode, in which information is not stored.
Last year, OpenAI already introduced the ability to forget or remember specific details at the user's request. However, previously, this required an explicit reminder to the bot. Now, the process has become more automated.
The company notes that the new memory feature will be enabled by default for all users who have previously activated ChatGPT memory.
Starting today, memory in ChatGPT can now reference all of your past chats to provide more personalized responses, drawing on your preferences and interests to make it even more helpful for writing, getting advice, learning, and beyond. pic.twitter.com/s9BrWl94iY
