Center for Countering Disinformation tells about battles on Sumy region border

Fierce fighting continues in the border zone of the Sumy region, where Russian assault groups are attempting to cut off logistics routes for Ukraine's defense forces. The enemy's plan was known, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces were preparing to repel the attack, according to Andriy Kovalenko, the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
According to him, the enemy "is indeed continuing to fight in the border area of Sumy, using assault groups, while the Defense Forces are engaging in combat."
Kovalenko explained that the Russian army's goal remains unchanged - they are trying to reach the logistical roads leading from the Sumy region to the Ukrainian-controlled city of Sudzha in the Kursk region.
"But this plan was known in advance, and as a result, significant losses are being inflicted on the enemy's assault groups. The fighting in the border and border areas continues," added the head of the CCD.
At the end of February, reports spread online claiming that Russian forces had supposedly broken through in the village of Novenke in the Sumy region, but this information was later refuted.
As the head of the CCD, Kovalenko, explained at the time, the Russian army was attempting to carry out assault operations along the border line of the Sumy region.
On March 3, Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, stated that the Russian forces are trying to expand the zone of active hostilities on the Sumy border, towards the settlement of Novenke, in an attempt to cut off the logistics routes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
"All components of the Defense Forces are operating in this direction to prevent this. All available weapons are being used," he added.
