Today, on May 7, ahead of the Kremlin's ceasefire announced in Russia for Victory Day, Russian troops attacked Ukrainian cities with drones and ballistic weapons, according to the Ukrainian Air Force and monitoring channels.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, at 10:22, a group of enemy drones from Black Sea area heading toward Odesa was detected.
By 10:45, it was reported that drones were moving toward Kherson, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Odesa, and Chornomorske (Odesa region).
During the attack in Odesa, the operation of air defense forces could be heard, while Russian drones continued moving toward the city.
A few minutes later, the threat of ballistic weapons use from the east was also announced. Reports said the high-speed target was heading toward Dnipro.
Meanwhile, Russian troops carried out a drone strike on Kharkiv, Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported.
According to him, the hit occurred in the Novobavarskyi district of the city. Fire broke out at the strike site, and there were casualties. Their number and condition are being clarified.
Later, Terekhov added that about eight private houses, a car, and a shopping pavilion were damaged as a result of the attack.
"At this moment, two injured, 10 damaged houses, and a burned-out car," the mayor's statement said.
According to the regional military administration, the number of people injured as a result of an enemy UAV attack in the Novobavarskyi district of Kharkiv has risen to seven. Among them are a 15-year-old girl and a 7-year-old child who suffered an acute stress reaction.
Doctors also diagnosed acute stress reaction in five victims, while two others sustained glass injuries and bruises.
As a result of the Russian UAV strike, window glazing in four private houses, a civilian car, and a kiosk were damaged.
Ukraine-Russia ceasefire
Recently, Russia unilaterally announced a ceasefire for May 8–9, 2026, on the occasion of Victory Day celebrations.
Kremlin also began threatening massive strikes on the center of Kyiv if Ukraine attacks Moscow during holiday events. Residents and foreign diplomats were urged to evacuate from the Ukrainian capital.
In response, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the introduction of a silence regime from 00:00 on May 6.
Despite Kyiv's initiative to establish full silence, Moscow responded with new attacks and struck Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, and Kryvyi Rih.
After these attacks, Zelenskyy stated that their "main parade now depends on us." The President stressed that Ukraine would act symmetrically, and further decisions would depend on the development of the situation in the near future.
Yesterday, threats from Russia to strike the center of Kyiv in the event of disruption of the May 9 ceasefire were voiced for the second time in one week.
