The Canadian military showed how Ukrainian sappers are being trained as part of the international Unifier program.

"It takes skill and patience to clear a suspected minefield," the Canadian Armed Forces said in a statement.

It is noted that this is why one of the many skills that Canadian deminers teach to Ukrainian military personnel under the program is the safe detection and disposal of enemy mines.

Canada's assistance to Ukraine

Last June, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau paid an official visit to Kyiv. Following the visit, he announced that the government would provide Ukraine with a new military aid package worth 500 million Canadian dollars (over 370 million US dollars). Ottawa is also participating in an aviation coalition.

Later, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed strengthening air defense with Trudeau. The leaders also discussed strengthening the protection of Ukrainian skies.

Also on February 19, it became known that Canada would provide Ukraine with over 800 SkyRanger R70 multi-purpose unmanned aerial vehicles to help in the war against the Russian Federation.
