Canada announces new $500 million military aid package for Ukraine
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced a new, additional military support package for Ukraine worth 500 million Canadian dollars, according to the President's Office.
Trudeau met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Washington.
They condemned the recent missile attack by Russia on Ukraine. The Canadian Prime Minister emphasized that his country is ready to provide the necessary medical support to those affected by the Russian strike on the children's hospital Okhmatdyt in Kyiv.
The leaders discussed Ukraine's defense needs and coordinated cooperation within the fighter jet coalition.
Zelenskyy spoke about the need to expand training missions for Ukrainian pilots. The parties exchanged views on the possibility of additional training for Ukrainian pilots on Canadian flight simulators and holding one of the thematic meetings in Canada following the first Peace Summit.
It should be noted that on July 9, Zelenskyy discussed with Trudeau the missile attack by Russia on Ukraine on July 8 and the strengthening of air defense.
Russian strike on Okhmatdyt
On July 8, Russia launched a massive missile attack on Ukraine. One of the missiles struck the children's hospital Okhmatdyt in Kyiv.
On July 10, the first child victim among patients was reported.
