Bulgaria can supply ammunition to Ukraine, but with condition
Bulgaria has identified surplus ammunition that the country could provide to Ukraine. However, the supplies must be compensated by allies, according to the Acting Minister of Defense of Bulgaria, Atanas Zaprianov.
He mentioned that during an analysis, the Ministry of Defense found weapons that were excessive and unnecessary.
"From this stock, part of the ammunition of certain types can be provided to Ukraine. This package will be associated with an agreement with an allied country regarding compensation," Zaprianov noted.
According to him, Bulgaria has already received around 30 million euros for the previous aid package to Ukraine. These funds are intended for the modernization of the Bulgarian army.
The acting head of the Ministry of Defense noted that the government still needs to make a corresponding decision for the supply, and then coordinate its actions with allies and Ukraine.
Assistance from Bulgaria
It is worth noting that Bulgaria has been providing military aid to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion. The weapons are supplied despite the pro-Russian stance of the country's president, Rumen Radev.
In early April, it was reported that the Bulgarian parliament approved financial assistance to Ukraine amounting to 60 thousand euros.
Additionally, at the beginning of March, Bulgaria began transferring the 100 promised armored personnel carriers to Ukraine.
