British ambassador: There can be no discussion about peace for Ukraine without Ukraine
The first Peace Summit demonstrated worldwide support for the principles of the United Nations (UN) in ending the war in Ukraine. At the same time, there is another principle, according to which there can be no dialogue on Kyiv without its participation.
This was stated by the British Ambassador to Ukraine, Martin Harris, in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
"The fact that nearly 100 countries attended the Peace Summit in Switzerland demonstrates global support for these UN principles, and this must serve as the foundation for a just peace here in Ukraine," the ambassador stated.
He added that all countries should adhere to the main UN principles regarding the resolution of the war in Ukraine. This is particularly discussed during dialogues with China, India, and other members of the G20.
"There is also the fundamental principle that there cannot be a discussion about peace for Ukraine without Ukraine being involved. So, I think that through such diplomatic pressure, along with military pressure, we can influence Russia's position and achieve a just peace for Ukraine and security for Europe as a whole," Harris noted.
Peace summit
The Office of the President of Ukraine announced that the second Peace Summit will take place after a joint peace plan, which includes the 10 points outlined in Ukraine's peace formula, is agreed upon. It was initially expected that the Summit could occur before the end of the current year; however, Russia has repeatedly expressed its unwillingness to participate in this event.
Meanwhile, Daria Zarivna, an advisor to the head of the Office of the President, stated that the date of the next meeting will be announced after a series of thematic conferences planned for the end of October.
