Britain allows Ukraine to strike military targets on Russian territory - Zelenskyy
London has decided to allow Ukraine to strike military targets in Russia with British weapons, according to the press service of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
The Ministry noted that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak had a telephone conversation.
The leaders focused on preparations for the peace summit that will be held in Switzerland on June 15-16.
“I am sure that even in the midst of the pre-election period, the United Kingdom will be represented at the Summit at the highest level,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The President of Ukraine and the British Prime Minister discussed the issues of strengthening Ukraine's air defense and long-range capabilities.
"The President noted the permission of the United Kingdom to hit military targets on the territory of Russia," the press service of the Office of the President of Ukraine said.
According to the President, such a decision by London will prevent Russia's attempts to expand the war and save lives.
Another topic of discussion was the possibility of joint training missions between Ukraine and the UK.
What happened before
In early May, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said that Ukraine could use British weapons to hit targets in Russia.
But recently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the permission to use British Storm Shadow missiles provided to the Armed Forces was not “100% permission”.
