Rescuers have found the body of a boy under the rubble of a building in the Solomianskyi district of Kyiv, which was hit by a Russian missile during the night of June 17. It has been confirmed that this is the same boy his parents had been waiting for all day, according to sources.

Boy's body recovered from the rubble

At around 8 p.m. Kyiv time, rescuers recovered the body of the boy from under the rubble at the site of the Russian attack in Kyiv’s Solomianskyi district. It has been reported that the parents have already identified the body and confirmed it is their son.

According to law enforcement, the boy became the 14th victim of the horrific overnight missile strike on the residential building in the capital’s Solomianskyi district. More than 100 people were injured.

In the morning, a photo showing the boy’s mother and father standing in front of the destroyed building spread across social media and news outlets. It was later confirmed that their son was trapped beneath the rubble.

The boy’s parents spent the entire day by the collapsed building, holding on to hope that he could be rescued alive. All of Ukraine watched the rescue operation unfold, hoping for a miracle. Sadly, that miracle did not come — the child did not survive.

What is known about the overnight strike on Kyiv on June 17

On the night of June 17, Russia attacked the capital with Shahed drones and missiles, with damage of varying degrees recorded at 27 locations across the city. The most severe destruction occurred in a residential high-rise in the Solomianskyi district, which was directly hit by a missile.

An entire section of the building — from the 1st to the 9th floor — was destroyed, and many people were trapped under the rubble. Several victims were rescued alive, although with serious injuries. Over the course of the day, rescuers recovered four more bodies.

Around 5 p.m. Kyiv time, reports began circulating online claiming that the boy trapped in the destroyed building had been found alive and taken to the hospital. However, this information was not confirmed, and the journalist who initially shared the news later deleted the post.
