On Tuesday, January 2, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken had a telephone conversation with the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom, David Cameron, according to the U.S. Department of State.

During the conversation, the leaders discussed ongoing efforts by both countries to assist Ukraine in defending itself against Russian aggression.

Additionally, Blinken and Cameron discussed collective multilateral actions to counter threats to global interests arising from Iranian-backed Houthi attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea.

The conflict between Israel and Hamas was also part of the discussion, focusing on the necessity to improve the protection of civilians and deliver humanitarian aid to the civilian population in Gaza.

Intensive shelling of Ukraine from the side of the Russian Federation

On Tuesday, January 2, Russian occupiers once again launched a massive attack on Ukraine using kamikaze drones and missiles of various types.

In total, the Air Defense Forces destroyed 72 missiles. Among them were 10 hypersonic aeroballistic missiles Kinzhal, launched from MiG-31K aircraft.

On the same day, the Head of the Office of the President, Andriy Yermak, had a telephone conversation with the U.S. National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan. The parties agreed on the necessity to strengthen Ukraine's air defense.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also had a phone conversation with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak. One of the topics discussed was the reinforcement of Ukrainian air defense.
