Blackouts, fires and civilians under rubble: Aftermath of Russia's latest assault on Kyiv, Odesa and other regions

Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine overnight, deploying drones and various types of missiles. Several regions reported destruction, fires, and power outages. In the Kyiv region, people were rescued from under rubble, while in Odesa energy infrastructure was damaged.

Weapons used
At around 2 a.m. Kyiv time, groups of Russian attack drones began entering Ukrainian airspace. Later, Russian forces scrambled MiG-31K aircraft, which carry Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missiles.
Strategic bombers Tu-95MS and Tu-160 were also detected in the air. Monitoring channels suggested that Zircon-type missiles may have been launched from Crimea.
Amid the large-scale assault, Poland also scrambled its own and allied aircraft. Polish command said the move was linked to the activity of Russian long-range aviation striking Ukraine.
Kyiv
According to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, a woman and a child from the suburbs were hospitalized in Kyiv. Preliminary reports indicate they were injured after debris fell in a residential area.
Kyiv was targeted with ballistic weapons and drones.
Kyiv region
Regional authorities said the aftermath of the attack was recorded in five districts:
- Boryspil district: a private house damaged, a woman injured, a farm outbuilding caught fire;
- Brovary district: 10 premises in a garage cooperative were damaged, the fire has been extinguished;
- Fastiv district: five private homes damaged, eight people, including a child, rescued from under rubble;
- Bucha district: two private houses and a car were damaged;
- Obukhiv district: warehouses and a private house were damaged.

Emergency services are working at the sites, and efforts to eliminate the consequences of the attack are ongoing.
As of 9:20 a.m., one fatality has been confirmed in the Fastiv district. The victim was a 48-year-old man who, according to the State Emergency Service, died on the way to the hospital.

Odesa and the region
According to the State Emergency Service, Russian troops attacked energy infrastructure facilities in the Odesa region overnight. The strikes caused large-scale fires and significant damage.
Rescuers extinguished all fires. Preliminary reports indicate there were no fatalities or injuries.

Kirovohrad region
Regional authorities said the area was also targeted. Specialists are currently inspecting the territory, and all relevant services are working on site.
Local officials are urging residents not to ignore air raid alerts.
Poltava region
Authorities reported that air defense systems were active during the night attack.
In the Poltava district, debris from a drone damaged the fences of private households. No injuries were reported.
No information has been received about strikes or debris falling in other districts of the region.
Mykolaiv
In Mykolaiv, a morning attack involving Shahed drones damaged energy infrastructure. According to regional authorities, about 16,000 customers were left without electricity.
No casualties were reported.
Cherkasy region
According to the regional military administration, air defense forces shot down three Russian missiles and about a dozen drones over the region. Preliminary reports indicate there were no injuries.
However, in the Cherkasy district, the blast wave damaged windows in at least five residential buildings, as well as several outbuildings.
