The Russian-installed power company Sevastopolenergo has introduced widespread electricity restrictions in occupied Sevastopol in Crimea.

The company said that due to a technical failure in the main transmission lines of the Crimean power grid, the dispatcher of the Black Sea Regional Dispatch Office ordered a significant reduction in power consumption.

The occupation-run utility acknowledged that it cannot follow the scheduled outage rotation during the emergency repair work.

"Sevastopolenergo cannot adhere to the planned outage schedule during the emergency repair work. At this time, consumers in the first and second outage groups have been disconnected," the company stated.

As previously reported, explosions were heard overnight on July 12 in occupied Sevastopol and Simferopol, while mobile fire groups opened fire and air defense systems were activated.

The Russian-installed authorities in Sevastopol immediately claimed there was "an overload of the power system" outside the city and said restrictions were necessary "to prevent a large-scale accident."

Meanwhile, residents of Simferopol reported hearing at least three powerful explosions within minutes.

On the night of July 9-10, the Unmanned Systems Forces of Ukraine struck five electrical substations in occupied Crimea—Berehove, Mainaky (Yevpatoriia), Novoozerne, Saky, and Medvedeve—and 13 vessels from the shadow fleet of Russia near the peninsula.
