New battlefield figures show the war continues to exact a heavy price

Russia is continuing its offensive push in southeastern Ukraine, where Russian troops are trying to expand their gains toward Dnipropetrovsk and maintain pressure around key frontline areas. At the same time, Ukrainian forces have launched counterattacks and reclaimed dozens of settlements in the south, while stepping up strikes on Russian logistics and military targets deep inside Russia. The latest Russian losses come amid this increasingly costly struggle for momentum on the battlefield.
The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to August 17, 2026, are estimated to be:
