Biden to announce new military aid package for Ukraine today – White House
US President Joe Biden will announce a new military aid package for Ukraine on Thursday, December 12. It will include, in particular, air defense systems and artillery, this was stated by White House Communications Advisor John Kirby during a briefing.
"Today, the president approved a new security assistance package for Ukraine that will provide them with additional air defense, artillery, drones, and armored vehicles," Kirby said.
He noted that this will be the 72nd aid package for Ukraine from the US.
US assistance to Ukraine
On December 7, the administration of US President Joe Biden announced a new $988 million defense aid package for Ukraine.
In November, the Pentagon stated that it would send weekly shipments of weapons to Ukraine. This is necessary to ensure the timely delivery of the remaining assistance allocated to Kyiv by Washington.
Pentagon spokesperson Patrick Ryder also noted that after the US Congress approved $60 billion in aid for Ukraine in April 2024, the US supplied Ukraine with 83% of the promised ammunition and 67% of the pledged air defense systems.
