US to send weapons to Ukraine weekly
The US Department of Defense will send shipments of weapons to Ukraine weekly. This is necessary to ensure that the remaining assistance for our country is delivered promptly, states Sabrina Singh, Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary in the Department of Defense.
She stated that the weekly shipments are intended to ensure that the remaining $7.1 billion in aid for Ukraine is allocated before the end of US President Joe Biden's term and his administration, which is before the inauguration of newly elected US President Donald Trump.
Singh added that the continuation of weapon deliveries is part of the commitment Biden made to Ukraine. Therefore, the US Department of Defense is fulfilling this promise by sending aid packages every week.
"The secretary is not going to allow the department to dip below readiness levels that he doesn't feel comfortable with. So as we continue to refill our own shelves, you're going to see equipment capabilities continue to flow out," Singh concluded.
About a week ago, the Pentagon confirmed the US commitment to continuing military aid to Ukraine. Specifically, Sabrina Singh stated that presidential aid packages and the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) will remain active until the end of the current administration's term.
