Biden orders talks with Russia on nuclear weapons in space, White House states
President of the United States Joe Biden has instructed his Administration to engage in negotiations with the Russian Federation regarding the possible testing of nuclear weapons in space, according to the White House National Security Council Coordinator, John Kirby.
According to him, the threat to U.S. national security, previously reported in the media, is the possible testing of nuclear weapons by Russia in space.
"We are not talking about weapons that can be used to attack human beings or cause physical destruction here on Earth," Kirby says.
At the same time, President Biden has instructed to establish diplomatic interaction with Russia and other allies. Kirby notes that the U.S. and its allies take the threat from Russia seriously.
"The intelligence community has serious concerns about a broad declassification of this intelligence," he says.
He believes that Russia's new anti-satellite weapons could have an impact on Earth.
